22.04.2020This year marks the 75th anniversary of the Allied forces liberating concentration camps located in the territory of then-German Reich. Poland remembers and pays tribute to the victims of the Nazi Germany crimes against Poles, Jews and representatives of other nationalities. Those crimes were committed, among others, in the Sachsenhausen, Dachau, Ravensbrück and Mauthausen-Gusen camps.

10.04.2020On 10 April 2010, a special TU-154M plane with the President of Poland Lech Kaczyński and the First Lady Maria Kaczyńska on board took off from Warsaw to Smolensk. On that very day the members of the official delegation were to participate in the ceremonies taking place in the Katyn War Cemetery, commemorating the 70th anniversary of the crime committed there. The aircraft carried 96 people, including members of the highest state authorities, representatives of various social circles and religious denominations, high-ranking military commanders and the plane’s crew. All the flight passengers died in the air disaster which took place during landing at the airport near Smolensk.

25.02.2020On February 24-25, 2020, Minister Jacek Czaputowicz visited Geneva, the European headquarters of the United Nations. As part of his visit, Polish Foreign Minister made a statement during the High Level Segment of the 43rd session of the Human Rights Council, inaugurating Poland's membership in this body in the years 2020-2022.

This year’s theme is Youth Standing Up for Human Rights, which reflects the 30th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

28.11.2019On November 25-28, 2019 debates, panel discussions and exhibitions devoted to social protection issues in a global context took place in the International Labour Office. Many aspects and dimensions of social protection were discussed: institutional, financial, legislative and cultural. In a situation where only 45% of the world's population is covered by at least one form of social protection, the need for a strategic approach to the topic was strongly emphasized. This is particularly important in the context of the Agenda 2020 goals, including SDG 1.3. Social protection systems for all people.

20.11.2019On 20 November at the 40th Session of the General Conference of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in Paris Poland was elected a member of UNESCO’s Executive Board. Other newly elected states from our electoral group are: Russia, Serbia and Hungary.
