Permanent Delegate of the Republic of Poland to UNESCO

A career diplomat, in the Polish foreign service since 2007.

Maja Wawrzyk comes from Gdańsk and graduated from the University of Gdańsk (sociology, French). She later attended the National School of Public Administration in Warsaw.

She worked at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the areas of public and cultural diplomacy, knowledge management, European policy, and the United Nations system.

From 2010 to 2011, she was seconded to the Council of Europe in Strasbourg. Then, until 2015, she served as Director of the Polish Institute in Bucharest, Romania, with accreditation for the Republic of Moldova. From 2023 to 2026, she held a position as Deputy Executive Director of the International Visegrad Fund.
