On November 27, 2025 the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Sydney hosted a meeting with Mr. Anthony Sharwood, author of the book "Kościuszko: The Extraordinary Life of a Man from Beyond the Mountain." The book took third place in the category "Best Foreign-Language Publication on Polish History" of the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs Competition for the best history book published in 2023 and 2024.

The event was organized as part of the Literary Club, which has been operating at the Consulate for a year now. The meeting with Mr. Sharwood was attended by numerous guests, among others, by the invited representatives of the Kościuszko Heritage organization.

During the event guests had the opportunity to learn how Anthony Sharwood discovered Kościuszko and how he sought to present his biography in a way that appealed to Australian readers. When describing the central character of his book, the author emphasized his universal and timeless qualities, and the coherence between Kościuszko's ideas of freedom and his actions.

In a vivid and engaging way, the author recounted the places he visited while working on the book (Poland, the United States and Switzerland) and the people he met along the way. Mr. Sharwood emphasized that the process of his work on the book allowed him to better understand Polish history, culture and cuisine.
