Celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Warsaw in Australia

Notwithstanding restrictions imposed by the current pandemic, Poles in Australia celebrated the 100th anniversary of Poland’s victory in the Battle of Warsaw in 1920.

The Federation of Polish Organizations in New South Wales and the Society of Christ for Poles Abroad organized the events in Sydney. Veterans of the Warsaw Uprising, Ryszard Czeczucha and Jerzy Zelazowski, honored the celebration with their presence. A solemn Mass in the Church of Our Lady of Czestochowa Queen of Poland in Marayong was held, followed by a concert entitled "May we be worthy of them". An exhibition of the Institute of National Remembrance "War with the Bolsheviks. Battle of Warsaw 1920” was also presented on this occasion.

Polish community in Perth attended a celebratory Mass in a local Polish church, followed by a performance by students of Polish schools in Perth. The Warsaw Uprising insurgent from the Home Army (AK), Stanisław Longin Mackiewicz, pseudonym "Żak" was the honorary guest.

A ceremonial Mass for the Motherland and a screening of ‘Legions’ was held in the Catholic Center of John Paul II in Canberra.
