Karolina Patrycja Cemka
Chargée d'affaires ad interim of the Republic of Poland in Commonwealth of Australia and countries of additional accreditation: Independent State of Papua New Guinea, Republic of Fiji, Republic of Nauru, Republic of Vanuatu, Solomon Islands
Ms. Karolina Cemka has graduated from the Warsaw School of Economics, Faculty of International Economic and Political Relations, and completed postgraduate studies in Communication at the Spanish University School of Marketing and Communication (ESMA). She has also undertaken courses in strategic management, including at IESE Business School in Spain and Cambridge Judge Business School at the University of Cambridge. Ms. Karolina Cemka is a career diplomat at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland, holding the rank of Minister Counselor.
In March 2026, she assumed her duties as Head of Mission, Chargée d’Affaires a.i. of the Republic of Poland to the Commonwealth of Australia.
Since joining the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, her career has covered various thematic areas of the foreign service. From 2001 to 2005, she worked in the Department of Strategy and Planning, and subsequently in the Department of Public Diplomacy. In 2005, Ms. Cemka completed the Young Diplomats course at the Dutch Institute for International Relations in Clingendael. From 2005 to 2012, she was posted to the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Madrid, where she was responsible for European affairs and, from 2008, served as Head of the Economic Section. Between 2012 and 2014, she served as Head of Section for Global Economic Affairs and International Economic Organizations in the Department of Economic Cooperation. In this capacity, she was responsible for preparing Poland’s policy with regard to the OECD and the EU Trade Policy Committee. In 2015, following a successful internal competition procedure,
Ms. Cemka joined the Department of the Americas as Deputy Director responsible for Latin America and the Caribbean. During this period, she led the drafting of Poland’s strategy towards Latin America and the Caribbean. From 2018, she served as Consul General of the Republic of Poland in Barcelona, with consular jurisdiction over Catalonia, the Balearic Islands, Aragon, and Valencia. In 2021, she was elected Vice Dean of the Consular Corps in Barcelona. In 2021 she was elected as Vice Dean of the Consular Corp in Barcelona. From 2023 to 2025,
Ms. Cemka worked at the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland as Head of the Section for International Cooperation and Training, where she was responsible, among other duties, for foreign training programmes.
Ms. Cemka is also qualified as a mentor and coach. She plays the piano and speaks English, Spanish, and French. She has been married since 2021.
