May 3rd Constitution Day Celebration at the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Canberra

On 6 May, the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Canberra hosted official celebrations marking the 235th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of 3 May, attended by Mr Władysław Teofil Bartoszewski, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland, and Ms Anna Sochańska, Director of the Department for Cooperation with the Polish Diaspora and Poles Abroad.
Addresses were delivered by Minister Władysław Teofil Bartoszewski, Ms Karolina Cemka, Chargé d’Affaires a.i., and Colonel Robert Tkaczyk, Defence, Military, Naval and Air Attaché. In his remarks, the Secretary of State referred to the current international situation and the future of Poland–Australia relations, also in the broader European context.
The event was attended by approximately 250 guests, including Mr Jamie Isbister, Deputy Secretary of the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), members of the diplomatic and military corps, parliamentarians, representatives of government administration, think tanks, Honorary Consuls of the Republic of Poland, and members of the Polish community.
The celebrations also marked the official opening of the Office of the Defence Attaché of the Republic of Poland in Canberra.
During the ceremony, Minister Bartoszewski presented the Honorary Badge for Merits for Polish Diaspora and Poles Abroad to Ms Katarzyna Williams, Deputy Director of the Centre for European Studies at the Australian National University (ANU), in recognition of her outstanding contribution to strengthening Polish national identity abroad and her exceptional efforts in fostering closer relations between Poland and Australia.
The celebrations concluded with an artistic performance by Ms Marta Nowicka and Mr Grant Roberts.
