Working Holiday Program
The visa issued under the Working Holiday Program is a type of national visa. It is granted in accordance with the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Poland and the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia concerning the Working Holiday Program.
The visa application and the required documents listed below must be submitted in person only at the Consulate of the Republic of Poland in Sydney.
Australian citizens residing in Australia who meet all of the following requirements may apply to participate in the Program if they:
- submitted a visa application in person at the Consulate of the Republic of Poland in Sydney. The application form must be completed electronically at https://www.e-konsulat.gov.pl. Once completed online, the form must be printed and submitted at the Consulate. An appointment to lodge the application and submit all required documents must also be booked through the same website.
- submitted a written statement (signed before the consul) declaring their intention to stay in the territory of the Republic of Poland primarily for the purpose of improving their knowledge of the Polish language and culture, and that undertaking paid employment will not constitute the main purpose of their stay.
- are aged between eighteen (18) and thirty (30) years inclusive on the date of submitting the application.
- are not accompanied by dependants.
- hold a valid passport issued no earlier than ten (10) years before the date of application, containing at least two (2) blank pages, and valid for at least three (3) months beyond the planned end of stay.
- provide two recent photographs (size 35 x 45 mm).
- hold a return ticket or have sufficient financial means to purchase one (minimum PLN 2,500).
- provide documents confirming sufficient financial means to support themselves during their stay in the Republic of Poland (minimum PLN 776 per month of stay), as well as proof of accommodation for the entire period (either pre-paid or with a reservation and proof of sufficient funds to cover its cost).
- pay the required visa application fee at the time of submission (in cash or by card).
- hold health insurance meeting the requirements applicable within the territory of the Republic of Poland, valid for the entire period of stay (travel health insurance with a minimum coverage of EUR 30,000). Information from the Minister of Foreign Affairs regarding insurers and insurance policies meeting the requirements of the Act of 12 December 2013 on Foreigners is available on the Ministry’s website.
- have not previously participated in the Program.
- submit a criminal record certificate bearing an apostille.
In accordance with the Program, a national visa is granted for a period of twelve (12) months, allowing multiple entries into the territory of the Republic of Poland.
A holder of a national visa issued under the Program may remain in the territory of the Republic of Poland and undertake paid employment without a work permit, in accordance with the terms of this Agreement, for a period of up to six (6) months.
Participants of the Program are obliged to comply with the laws and regulations of the Republic of Poland and must not undertake employment inconsistent with those regulations.
