Christmas market "Solidarity with Ukraine" at the Council of Europe

On 1 December 2023, a Charity Market for Ukraine was held at the Council of Europe with the participation of member states and observers to the organization. The aim of the event was to raise funds for a 3D printer, enabling faster production of temporary prostheses, which will be donated to the Superhumans Center - a world class medical center that provides free assistance to Ukrainian soldiers injured on the front.

The event was organized under the patronage of Liechtenstein, which currently holds the Presidency of the Council of Europe, and the Ukrainian section of the Amicale association. The official opening started with the speech of the Secretary General of the Council of Europe and the Ambassador of Ukraine.

The audience had the opportunity to listen to the performance of the National Choir of Ukraine “Dumka”, one of the oldest choral groups in Ukraine. Apart from the cultural offer, participants, furthering a worthy cause, had the opportunity to taste culinary specialties from Europe and Asia. At the end, the lucky winners of the tombola game were given prizes in the form of gifts donated by the participating delegations.

Thanks to the initiative of the Permanent Representation of Poland, the countries jointly showed their solidarity with Ukraine by taking part in the holiday tradition of creating the "Chain of Solidarity with Ukraine". Ambassadors and other representatives of the present delegations added further paper links with appropriate flags to the existing chain in order to show their commitment to real assistance provided to Ukraine by the Council of Europe.

All funds raised during the event were donated to the Superhumans Center.
