Poland in the Council of Europe

On April 14-16th, in the Column Hall of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland, took place the 16th International Scientific Conference on Human Rights entitled "75 years of the Council of Europe's influence on shaping the European legal space in the areas of democracy, the rule of law and the protection of human rights."

The talks focused on Poland’s cooperation with the Council of Europe in the promotion of human rights, democracy and the rule of law, Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, as well as Poland’s and the Council of Europe’s further support for Belarus.

On 25th January the Liechtenstein delegation, which currently holds the presidency of the Committee of Ministers, organized for the first time in the Council of Europe the celebration of the International Women's Day in Multilateralism, established by UNESCO in 2021. The event was organized on the initiative of the Polish, Portuguese and Slovak delegations.

As endorsed by the Foreign Ministries of Canada, Denmark, Estonia, France, Germany, The Netherlands, Poland, Sweden, United Kingdom and the United States on 20 December 2023, the Tallinn Mechanism officially formalized.

On 1 December 2023, a Charity Market for Ukraine was held at the Council of Europe with the participation of member states and observers to the organization. The aim of the event was to raise funds for a 3D printer, enabling faster production of temporary prostheses, which will be donated to the Superhumans Center - a world class medical center that provides free assistance to Ukrainian soldiers injured on the front.

On November 30th, on the occasion of the 3rd meeting of the Council of Europe Contact Group on Belarus, the Permanent Representation of the Republic of Poland to the Council of Europe organized a concert by the Polish-Belarusian band Ulyánica, which performed ethno-jazz music of the Polesia region.
