Poland in the Council of Europe

On April 19, 2023, at the initiative of the Polish delegation, a symbolic commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising was held at the 1464th meeting of the Committee of Ministers' Delegates of the Council of Europe.

For 20 years, young Poles have had the opportunity to study as part of the Polish section at the Pontonniers International High School in Strasbourg. On the occasion of the round anniversary, on April 1, 2023, graduates, teachers currently and in the past forming the Polish educational outpost in Strasbourg, met to celebrate this special occasion.

On January 25, 2023, on the sideline of the winter session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, on the initiative of the Lithuanian parliamentarian Emanuelis Zingeris, the presentation of the L3 report prepared by the Kosciuszko Institute (PL), Detector Media (UA) and The Civic Resilience (LT) on disinformation took place.

On 19-20 December 2022, the Council of Europe organised a pilot training on Psychological Support to Refugees: Strengthening Professional Capacities in Warsaw, Poland.

Due to the ongoing war beyond Poland's eastern border, on November 24, the Permanent Representation of the Republic of Poland to the Council of Europe organized a concert of the Polish-Ukrainian band Dagadana and a presentation of the exhibition "Mom, I don't want war!".

On November 1, at the Cronenburg military cemetery, Ambassador Jerzy Baurski took part in the National Day of the Graves of the "Dead for France" celebration organized by the mayor of Strasburg, Ms. Jeanne Barseghian, and the association Le Souvenir français in the Department of the Lower Rhine, represented by Mr. Maurice Bartholome.

On October 5, 2022 at the Palace of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg (Palais de l'Europe), the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Poland, Ambassador Jerzy Baurski, opened together with the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Marija Pejčinović Burić and the Chairman of the Committee of Delegates of Ministers, Amb. Breifne O'Reilly an exhibition by the Polish artist - Ewa Rossano.

Representative of the Republic of Poland took part in the international ceremony of commemorating the victims in the former Natzweiler-Struthof concentration camp. One of the last surviving prisoners of the camp was among the participants of the ceremony.

The Permanent Representative, ambassador Jerzy Baurski was honoured to host a meeting for the interested delegations with Mr Alexander Shlyk, Special Representative of Mrs Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya for the elections and Mr Aleh Hulak, Chairman of the Belarusian Helsinki Committee.
