Poland in the Council of Europe

Representative of the Republic of Poland took part in the international ceremony of commemorating the victims in the former Natzweiler-Struthof concentration camp. One of the last surviving prisoners of the camp was among the participants of the ceremony.

The Permanent Representative, ambassador Jerzy Baurski was honoured to host a meeting for the interested delegations with Mr Alexander Shlyk, Special Representative of Mrs Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya for the elections and Mr Aleh Hulak, Chairman of the Belarusian Helsinki Committee.

On 4-8 July 2022, the Permanent Representation of Poland to the Council of Europe in Strasbourg conducted a Twitter campaign aimed at presenting the initiatives of independent artists/organizations from the Belarusian democratic opposition, who were excluded and persecuted by the regime due to their political/ideological views.

An expert from Poland, a country that had ratified the Istanbul Convention in 2015, will seat in GREVIO for the first time.

On June 9, 2022, at the seat of the Council of Europe, the meeting of the General Assembly of Cities awarded the Europe Prize was held.

On February 25, 2022, during an extraordinary meeting, the Committee of Delegates of Ministers of the Council of Europe decided to suspend Russian Federation from its rights of representation.
