Substantive contribution: Polish Union of Cosmetics Industry, Chamber of Cosmetologists; Consultation: National Association of Nail Stylists Fantasmagorie, #BeautyRazem Initiative, Polish Association of Cosmetics and Detergent Industry, Beauty Pro Federation.

The following guidelines apply to beauty salons, salons providing cosmetic services, podiatry salons, as well as salons offering manicure, pedicure and nail stylisations.

The goal of the implemented procedures is to:

  1. Additional increase the safety of employees (staff) and clients of the salon.
  2. Minimise the risk of employees (staff) or clients being infected.
  3. Limiting the number of contacts in the salon within a given period of time, as a mean of protection against possible infection.
  4. Determining the recommended anti-epidemic activities adapted to the stage of the state of epidemic.

The guidelines are divided into four parts:

  1. Ensuring the safety of the salon's employees and clients.
  2. Ensuring safety in the service premises (salon).
  3. Preventive procedures: suspected coronavirus infection among employees.
  4. Procedures in the event of a suspected coronavirus infection regarding client / other person.
Ensuring the safety of the salon's employees and clients
  1. Maximum possible limitation of internal meetings and consultations; meetings should be conducted with windows open while maintaining the recommended distance between people (at least 2 m between employees is suggested).
  2. Remote briefings (telephone or e-mail contact) should be prioritised.
  3. Organisation of workstations taking into account the required distance between employees (at least 2 m recommended).
  4. Organisation of workstations – recommended distance of 2 m; if it is not possible to provide the suggested distance between the stations, it is recommended to install protective screens (partitions, walls) between the stations. Additional partitions can be used at manicure stations to separate personnel from the client. Partition should allow to put one's hand to the other side.
  5. Reorganisation of the salon, taking into account the possibility of social distancing and separation of stations, especially in all common areas.
  6. This distance can be reduced if the service requires it and when other personal protective equipment is used.
  7. Placing disinfectant in the premises to enable cleaning each surface that is touched 2–3 times during the working day and at the end of each shift.
  8. Distribution of scheduled visits in such a way so as to reduce the number of people present in the salon at the same time. The number of clients in the salon is strictly limited to the number of workstations.
  9. Organisation of the working mode, including the shift and rotation system, so that employees working on different shifts do not mix. It is permissible for the same team to work all day long.

  13. On the day before the scheduled visit, the staff shall contact the client to confirm the visit.
  14. The client is informed that visit is not possible if:
  • the client has symptoms indicating an infectious disease,
