Celebration of the 40th anniversary of the August Agreements in Nicosia

40th anniversary of the August Agreements was celebrated in Nicosia on August 31st. Within the celebrations the logo "40 years of Solidarity" was displayed on the facade of the Center of Visual Arts and Research (CVAR) located in the old town.
Upon the invitation of the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland Mrs Irena Lichnerowicz-Augustyn, the event was attended, among others, by the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus Mr Kornelios Korneliou, Head of UNFICYP Ms Elisabeth Spehar, Deputy Mayor of Nicosia Ms Eleni Loucaidou, Chairman of the ruling party DISY Mr Averof Neophytou, heads and representatives of the diplomatic missions accredited to Cyprus of Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Ukraine and Serbia.
Due to the current restrictions related to COVID-19 pandemic, the event was held with the limited number of guests, the logo however was visible to passers-by until late evening hours.
The multimedia exhibition "40th Anniversary of the Birth of Solidarity" and the documentary "European Roads to Freedom" were presented to the guests.
