11.10.2025

On 11 October, the Municipal Theatre in Nicosia hosted an intercultural festival - the final event of the Cypriot EUNIC Cluster's project "Co-tailors for Future”, led by the Embassy of Poland in Nicosia. "Co-Tailors for Future” is an initiative of the Cypriot cluster promoting European cultural cooperation in support of innovation, inclusion, and shared European values.

he main goal of the project was to engage young migrant creators working in the fields of fashion, jewellery, hairdressing, crafts, and design, offering them online training and mentoring by Cypriot and European professionals. A total of 53 participants from African and European countries (including Ukraine and Cyprus) applied to take part in the project. Over 20 of them completed the online training focused on developing creative and business skills and participated in workshops enhancing entrepreneurship and legal competences, the use of the internet for promotional purposes, as well as building personal style and self-confidence in art.

The several-month process culminated in the selection of 16 finalists – fashion designers, artisans, hairstylists, and make-up artists – who, as a distinction, were given the opportunity to present their work during the final event, which included a fashion show, exhibition, and bazaar.

The project was initiated by the Embassy of Poland (holding the presidency of the cluster) and submitted for funding under the EUNIC Cluster Fund 2024. It was one of only seven projects from EU countries selected for support and marked the first time that a project from Cyprus received funding from EUNIC Global.

The project involved 11 cluster members: the Embassies of Poland, Spain, Italy, Ireland, Austria, and Hungary; Instituto Cervantes; Institut Français; Goethe-Institut; the Organization for European Programmes and Cultural Relations (OEPCr CY); and the British Council. The initiative’s partners included the European Commission Representation in Cyprus and the NGO Bridge of Hope.

The final festival gathered several hundred guests – representatives of the diplomatic corps, cultural institutions, media, academia, NGOs, the creative sector, as well as residents of Nicosia and other Cypriot cities.
