May 3rd National Day of Poland celebrated in Nicosia

On the occasion of the 230th anniversary of the adoption of the May 3rd Constitution, on May 11th a piano recital by the Polish pianist Marek Bracha was held at the Pallas Theatre in Nicosia.
Upon invitation of the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland Mrs Irena Lichnerowicz-Augustyn and the Honorary Consul General Mr Leandros Papaphilippou the concert was attended by representatives of Cypriot authorities, economic, scientific and cultural circles, the Polish community in Cyprus and the diplomatic corps. The Government of the Republic of Cyprus was represented by Mrs Natasa Pilides, Minister of Energy, Commerce and Industry, Mrs Emily Yiolitis, Minister of Justice and Public Order and Mr Savvas Perdios, Deputy Minister of Tourism.
In their occasional speeches Ambassador I. Lichnerowicz-Augustyn and Minister N. Pilides stressed an excellent state of Polish-Cypriot bilateral relations, as well as the existing potential for their further development. They also marked the importance of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, celebrated this year.
Invited guests listened to masterpieces by Fryderyk Chopin and the Cypriot composer Nicolas Economou. Due to the Covid-19 restrictions in force, the concert could have been attended by 50 people. However, it was live streamed on the internet.
