National Day of Poland - 3rd May Constitution Day

On 6 May, the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Nicosia, together with the Honorary Consul General, Leandros Papaphilippou, organized a reception to celebrate Poland's National Day - 3rd may Constitution Day.
The event was attended by representatives of the Cypriot authorities, business, academic and cultural circles, the Polish community, clergy, and members of the diplomatic corps. The Government of the Republic of Cyprus was represented by the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, Alexis Vafeades. In total, more than 150 guests participated in the event.
In his speech, Ambassador Marek Szczepanowski emphasized the importance of the Constitution of 3 May, which was the first constitution of its kind in Europe and the second in the world, as well as a symbol of freedom, democracy, and national revival. In this context, the Ambassador drew particular attention to the ongoing struggle between Ukraine and Russia, as well as developments in the Middle East, underlining the threats that contemporary conflicts and geopolitical tensions pose to the security of Europe and the stability of the international order. The Ambassador also referred to the ongoing Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the European Union, carried out since the beginning of the year within the Trio together with Poland and Denmark, as well as the steadily deepening Polish-Cypriot cooperation in recent years, particularly in the fields of security, education, and science.
In his address, the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, representing the Government of the Republic of Cyprus, referred to the long-standing friendly relations between Poland and Cyprus, cooperation within the Trio framework, and Poland’s solidarity regarding the Cyprus issue.
During the evening, guests attended a recital by a Polish pianist, who performed works by both Polish and international composers. Promotional videos showcasing Poland’s tourist attractions were also presented. Participants additionally had the opportunity to taste traditional Polish cuisine.
