SCyence Fair 2024

17.04.2024

On April 17, the Cyprus Institute organized the sCYence Fair 2024 science fair. The event was attended by research units, embassies of EU member states, as well as teams of pupils and students who presented the results of their work and experiments.

The purpose of the fair was to raise awareness of the wonders of science, expand knowledge and scientific horizons by young Cypriot scientists as well as primary and secondary school students. The emphasis was put on relevant, also from the point of view of EU policy, solutions to promote sustainable development.

Our embassy presented a fascinating augmented reality technology in the form of a sandbox, which allows users to create models of topography by manipulating real sand, and an unusual model of the solar system using dry ice. Both models were created by Polish scientist Adam Młynarczyk as part of the projects carried out by the Cyprus Space Exploration Agency CSEO.

Our guest was also a Polish scientist, Ms. Agnieszka Gawda, who conducted fascinating interactive experiments with the youngest participants.

We would like to thank the Polish scientists, the Cyprus Space Exploration Agency and the US Embassy in Nicosia, which co-financed one of the projects, for their cooperation.
