Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Henryka Mościcka-Dendys visits Cyprus

On 11-12 December 2025, the Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ms Henryka Mościcka-Dendys, paid a visit to Cyprus, during which she held political consultations with Cypriot partners, met with the Head of the UN Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP), and visited the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) as well as the Cyprus Centre for Land, Open Seas and Port Security (CYCLOPS) in Larnaca.
As part of the political consultations, Undersecretary Mościcka-Dendys met with the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus, Ambassador Theodora Constantinidou. The talks focused on bilateral relations, the priorities of Cyprus’ Presidency of the Council of the European Union and the PL–DK–CY Presidency Trio, with particular emphasis on EU enlargement, the Cyprus problem, and the situation in Ukraine.
Ms Mościcka-Dendys also met with the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General and Head of UNFICYP, Mr Khassim Diagne, who outlined the role of the peacekeeping mission on the island and the prospects for a settlement of the Cyprus issue.
On the second day of the visit, the Undersecretary of State visited the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) and the Cyprus Centre for Land, Open Seas and Port Security (CYCLOPS).
The JRCC is an agency of the Ministry of Defence responsible for organising and coordinating search and rescue (SAR) operations, evacuations, and exercises within the area corresponding to the Nicosia FIR. The Centre coordinates the cooperation of all services involved in SAR missions, preventing duplication of efforts and enhancing the effectiveness of rescue operations.
CYCLOPS is a training centre providing capacity-building for countries from the Middle East, Africa and the EU in the detection and neutralisation of threats related to the smuggling of weapons, biological and chemical agents, and radioactive materials through seaports and airports.
Both centres are located in Larnaca.
During the visit, the Undersecretary of State also gave an extensive interview to the leading Cypriot television station ANT1. The main topics of the interview included multidimensional Polish–Cypriot cooperation and the Polish and Cypriot Presidencies of the Council of the European Union.
Ms Mościcka-Dendys was accompanied by Mr Krzysztof Zieliński, Deputy Director of the Department of European Policy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Mr Andrzej Krynicki, Head of the Unit for South-Eastern Bilateral Relations; and Ms Paulina Dudzik, Adviser to a Member of the Ministry’s Senior Management.
