In one of the most prestigious locations in the Cypriot capital – Eleftheria Square – set within the remarkable surroundings designed by world-renowned architect Zaha Hadid, the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Nicosia organised a concert by Polish Grammy Award winner Włodek Pawlik and his Trio.

Among the large audience were representatives of national and local authorities, the European Commission and European Parliament offices in Cyprus, members of the diplomatic corps, and the Cypriot Polish community. Thanks to the open-air setting, many passers-by also had the chance to enjoy the fantastic performance. The Włodek Pawlik Trio captivated the audience with a spirited programme featuring jazz classics, interpretations of Polish classical music, and original compositions. The concert ended with a standing ovation.

Following the performance, the official opening took place of an exhibition of works by Polish children’s book illustrators devoted to children’s rights, prepared by the Adam Mickiewicz Institute as part of the cultural programme of the Polish Presidency of the EU Council, in cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of Poland.

In his speech, Ambassador Marek Szczepanowski summed up Poland’s Presidency of the EU Council, reflecting on the established priorities and achievements of the past six months, and extended best wishes to Denmark and Cyprus, with whom Poland jointly holds the trio presidency.
