“We need broad international cooperation in the face of global cybersecurity challenges, especially if we want to ensure an effective response. Poland and France have similar stances on these issues, confirmed today by signing a joint Declaration on strengthening cooperation in this area,” said Marek Zagórski, Polish Minister of Digital Affairs.

In the presence of the Presidents

The document was signed in the Presidential Palace by the French Minister of Foreign Affairs Jean-Yves Le Drian and Polish Minister of Digital Affairs, Marek Zagórski, in the presence of the Presidents of the Republic of Poland - Andrzej Duda and President of France - Emmanuel Macron.

“We are committed to strengthening the exchange of analyses and stances concerning cybersecurity between Poland and France. We are also going to strive for better operational cooperation between national CERTs,” Minister Marek Zagórski said.

In the Declaration, the governments of Poland and France commit to cooperation and exchange of information on potential threats and incidents resembling planned cyberattacks on economic and public sectors, with the aim of increasing the security of digital processes, products and services.

Cybercooperation

During President Emmanuel Macron's visit to Poland on Monday, the delegates signed another document concerning cybersecurity - an agreement between the Ministry of Digital Affairs and Thales, on the latter’s participation in the Cybersecurity Cooperation Programme (PWCyber).

The agreement was signed by the Minister of Digital Affairs Marek Zagórski, Herve Multon - Thales’ Executive Vice President Europe and International Organisations, as well as Paweł Piotrowski - President of Thales Polska.

The main goal of PWCyber is to strengthen Polish cybersecurity. The programme is consistent with the assumptions of the Polish Cybersecurity Strategy for 2019-2024.

“We are glad that more and more companies are joining our programme. This shows great interest in our project, as well as an innovative and responsible approach to the ongoing technological transformation,” said Minister Marek Zagórski.

Four areas

The agreement concluded on Monday covers all areas of the Cybersecurity Cooperation Programme: information, education, training and testing, as well as certification, including:

  • developing skills and raising awareness of threats and methodologies of cyberattacks;
  • identifying vulnerabilities and risks, as well as exchanging information;
  • developing recommendations on the configuration of devices and software;
  • preparing and conducting cybersecurity evaluations and certifications;
  • promoting innovative solutions and projects concerning cybersecurity, building partnerships with National Cybersecurity System entities;

Thales (Euronext Paris: HO) is a global technology company providing innovative solutions and products to customers in the aerospace, transportation, cyberspace and arms industries.

“As part of the agreement, we will share our know-how and experience gained thanks to our international presence. Thanks to this, it will be easier to prepare appropriate protection against cyberattacks in Poland,” said Paweł Piotrowski, President of Thales Polska.
