Consul General of the Republic of Poland in Erbil, Maciej Zajdel

Born in 1974, in 2000 he graduated with a master's degree in Oriental Philology, specializing in Arabic Studies, from the oldest Polish university, the Jagiellonian University. In 2016, he also completed postgraduate studies in foreign trade at the University of Economics in Katowice. Since the late 1990s, he has been professionally involved with the Arab world, primarily Libya and Saudi Arabia. In 2021, he began his diplomatic career at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland, where he worked in the Political and Economic Department of the Polish Embassy in Cairo from 2021 to 2025. Since October 1, 2025, he is in charge of the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Erbil.
