KINOPOLIS - Polish Film Festival in Dublin (7-10 December)

15.11.2023

The 15th edition of KINOPOLIS - Polish Film Festival - took place from 7th until 10th December in the Irish Film Institute in Dublin!

The Dublin audiences had a chance to see the best Polish releases of 2023 and havd a chance to meet renowned filmmakers and actors!

This year’s edition of IFI Kinopolis took us from the beautifully animated life of nineteenth century rural Poland to a (hopefully) distant future where humanity may be about to wink out of existence at the hands of an implacable AI. Between the two, the audience was complicit in the tension and subterfuge of life as a spy, visited the edge of the world and the deep underground, listened captivated to some of the world’s greatest interpreters of Chopin’s music, danced, and tried desperately to get a job that will help us afford a decent place to live.

KINOPOLIS kicked off with the beautiful "The Peasants" - the already acclaimed movie by the filmmakers behind "Loving Vincent"!

This was followed by an edge-of-the-seat spy flick "Doppelganger. The Double", a gripping Sci-Fi feature " The Last Spark of Hope", the acclaimed doc "Pianoforte" about a group of young pianists competing for glory...

Alongside the selection of new and established talent, the organisers were also pleased to present a film by a truly singular Polish auteur, Walerian Borowczyk, on the occasion of the centenary of his birth. They were particularly delighted that so many filmmakers and actors came to Dublin to present their work, contributing to what was a memorable weekend in celebration of the best new work emerging from a country with such close ties to Ireland.
