The 20th century brought the world inconceivable suffering and the deaths of hundreds of millions in the name of twisted, totalitarian ideologies. The death toll of Nazism, fascism and communism is obvious for people of our generation. It is also obvious who is responsible for those crimes and whose pact started World War II - the most murderous conflict in the history of humankind. Unfortunately, the more time passes since these tragic events, the less our children and grandchildren know about them. That is why it is so important that we continue to speak the truth about World War II, its perpetrators and its victims, and to object to any attempts at distorting history.

Polish Embassy again this year took part in this diplomatic charity event

On 11 November the Polish Embassy in Dublin held a reception to commemorate the Day of Independence.

Olga Tokarczuk, Polish writer and activist, won the Nobel Prize in Literature for “a narrative imagination that with encyclopedic passion represents the crossing of boundaries as a form of life.”

The conference "30 Years On: Insights from East-Central and Wider Europe" spearheaded by the Polish Embassy in Dublin and co-organised with the embassies of the Czech Republic, Georgia, Germany, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Romania, Slovakia, and Ukraine and in cooperation with the TCD Trinity International Development Initiative took place on September 24, 2019 at the Trinity Long Room Hub.

Eighty years ago, German aggression on Poland started the Second World War. In the early hours of 1 September 1939, troops of the German Reich crossed the Polish-German border. Polish Army put up military resistance and expected the Allies’ reaction.

President of Ireland Michael D. Higgins launched the exhibition on Paul Strzelecki and his achievement to save over 200,000 children during the Great Irish Famine on 8 May in the Royal Irish Academy
