Szymborska at 100 - an afternoon of reflections, readings and music commemorating Poland's poet Wisława Szymborska on her centenary

On 28 May we celebrated the Year of Wisława Szymborska with an event in the Museum of Literature Ireland in Dublin. .

The following speakers took part in the centenary celebrations: Michał Rusinek, Szymborska's secretary of many years and the present the Chairman of the Wisława Szymborska Foundation, as well as renowned Irish poets, Jessica Traynor and Harry Clifton. Ukrainian pianist Andriy Blyznyuk prepared and performed a selection of Polish jazz pieces from the interwar period, sonce jazz was the poet's favourite music genre.   

The event  was organised by MoLI in partnership with the Embassy of Poland in Dublin. It formed part of the European Book Club - a series of literary meetings organised by EUNIC Ireland.
