On July 18th, a summer gathering of the Polish community in Jordan took place at the National Music Conservatory in Amman. The program included piano recital by Yulia Yezdakova (Ukraine - Amman Chamber Orchestra) and marimba recital by Mohammed Taha (Jordan - host). The artists performed works by Fryderyk Chopin, the national anthems of Poland and Jordan, and Polish and Jordanian patriotic pieces. A Fairy Tale Corner featuring works by Julian Tuwim was prepared for the youngest participants. Over 70 representatives of the Polish community in Jordan participated in the event.
The event, organized to celebrate the national holidays in May, Children's Day, and the Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union, was attended by Polish families, Polish employees of international institutions in Jordan, Polish language students at the University of Jordan in Amman, and friends of Poland.
The recital programs included Chopin's Heroic Polonaise in A flat major, Op. 53, and Polish and Jordanian patriotic songs (including "Przybyli ułani pod okienko"). In the Fairy Tale Corner, the youngest participants listened to a reading of Julian Tuwim's "Lokomotywa" (The Locomotive) and participated in themed games and activities.
Lujan Karpiński, the Polish Ambassador to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, used this occasion to said goodbye to the Polish community in Jordan following the end of his mission in the country.
