On 10 May, a representative of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Nairobi participated in the EU-Somalia Partnership Dialogue held in Mogadishu.

EU–Somalia Partnership Dialogue

It was the first Partnership Dialogue held under Article 3 of the Samoa Agreement and focused on EU–Somalia cooperation in key areas, including security, governance, migration and economic development.

 

The European Union delegation was led by EU Ambassador to Somalia Francesca Di Mauro and included ambassadors and representatives of EU Member States: Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Spain and Sweden, as well as EU security and capacity-building missions. The Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Nairobi was represented by Weronika Mincewicz-Podrecka, Second Secretary for Political Affairs.

The Somali delegation was led by Deputy Prime Minister Salah Ahmed Jama and included ministers responsible, among others, for defence, justice and constitutional affairs, internal security, finance, planning, investment and economic development, and commerce and industry.

 

The discussions focused on the regional and international situation, Somalia’s constitutional review and electoral process, security sector reform, the fight against al-Shabaab, stabilisation efforts in liberated areas, migration and mobility, as well as economic cooperation, investment climate and private sector development. The EU also reaffirmed its support for Somalia’s peace and stabilisation efforts.
