Festive reception on the occasion of the 3rd of May Constitution Day

The Embassy of Poland in Nairobi held a festive reception on 23rd of April, 2026 on the occasion of the Constitution Day in order to commemorate the adoption of the 3rd of May Constitution of 1791.
Around 150 guests took part in this event, including members of the Diplomatic Corps - on ambassadorial or the deputies level, Director General of UNON, Executive Director of UN-HABITAT, representatives of the local authorities, business and media as well as members of Polish community in Kenya. Among the guests was also the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Poland to the United Nations in New York, Ambassador K. Szczerski, who visited Kenya to attend the meeting of Executive Board of the UN-HABITAT. On behalf of the Government of the Republic of Kenya, Ambassador Michael Kiboino, Secretary for Administration and Foreign Service Management at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora of the Republic of Kenya, appeared as guest of honour, representing the Principal Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora of the Republic of Kenya, Abraham Korir Sing’Oei. The reception also featured a concert by young musicians from Ghetto Classic, who also performed the national anthems. Ghetto Classic provides musical education to children from the Korogocho slum, mainly thanks to the support of sponsors and volunteers.
Chargé d’affairs a.i. M.Kubiak delivered occasional speech and among other things, he presented the historical background of the 3rd of May Constitution, stressing also its unique and symbolical importance for many generations of Poles in their struggle for independence. Furthermore, he elaborate a little on Polish-Kenyan relations, with special consideration of commercial co-operation and prospects of its further development.
