Poland in Kenya

Recently, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been receiving reports of phone scams in which fraudsters claim to be either MFA’s employees or employees of Polish missions abroad to get the call recipients perform certain actions, especially money transfers. Usually, during the phone conversation scammers will inform you that you have failed to follow certain procedures or provided partial or false data while filling out forms, which will allegedly bring about legal consequences.

We kindly inform you that on Tuesday, July 20, 2021, the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Nairobi and its Consular Section will be closed due to Eid al-Adha, which was declared a public holiday in the Republic of Kenya.

On July 11, 2021, the ambassadors of Poland and Hungary unveiled a plaque in the Tamarind Village hotel and restaurant complex in Mombasa, commemorating a duo of architects – Mr. Zbigniew Trzebiński and Mr. Tibor Gáll, who jointly designed several dozen hotels in Kenya in the second half of the 20th century.

The main topics discussed during the visit of the Polish Deputy Foreign Minister Paweł Jabłoński to Kenya, which took place on June 25, 2021, were the development of bilateral political and economic relations and the possibility of using Polish experience and know-how in the transformation and modernization of the Kenyan economy.

The Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Nairobi is pleased to share the results of the 2021 call for applications under the Polish Aid Small Grants Programme. Six projects, amounting to 134 000 euros in total, were selected among 150 applications received.

At Embassy's initiative, one of the matatus - traditional collective taxis in Kenya, has been decorated with photos of famous Poles and most popular Polish landscapes. The initiative promotes one year-long Polish presidency of the Visegrád Group (V4) that comes to an end on June 30, 2021.

As a result of the cooperation between the Embassy and the editors of the Kenyan monthly magazine "The Consulate", devoted to foreign affairs, its June issue contains an extensive material on Polish-Kenyan bilateral relations, both in historical and current perspective, including cooperation in the fields of political relations, economic and development affairs, and culture, art, cuisine and traditions of our country.

On June 5, 2021, at the initiative of the Embassy, Poles based in Nairobi participated in a trip around the capital in the footsteps of their fellow citizens. It allowed to learn a bit more about Polish heritage in Kenya and places in Nairobi that are historically linked to Poland.
