Poland in Kenya

We kindly inform you that on Friday, April 2, 2021 and Monday, April 5, 2021, the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Nairobi and its Consular Section will be closed due to public holidays observed in Kenya and in Poland, the Good Friday and the Easter Monday.

The Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Nairobi took the honorary patronage over the DUOS Festival organized as part of the project entitled Transcultural Perspectives in Art and Art Education (TPAAE). Thanks to this initiative, art universities from Europe and East Africa analyse contemporary art and forms of artistic education on both continents in a transcultural perspective.

On On March 5, 2021, Ambassador Jacek Bazański, on behalf of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland, Mr. Zbigniew Rau, awarded Dr. Kea Norra Barua and Fr. Wojciech Ulman with the Bene Merito honorary distinction, in presence of the Polish community in Kenya and Kenyan graduates of Polish universities. This distinction is awarded to Polish citizens and to citizens of foreign countries in recognition of their merits in promoting Poland abroad.

The factory operates under the aegis of the Kenyan organization TenSensesAfrica, local partner in the project aimed at strengthening the production capacities of cashew and macadamia nuts in the Kenyan counties of Lamu, Kilifi and Kwale. This initiative is implemented jointly by the Member States of the Visegrád Group and the European Union within the EU Trust Fund for Africa (EUTF).

On February 15, 2021 in Nairobi, Ambassador Jacek Bazański and his family met with three Polish cyclists, Ms. Bogusława Skupin, Mr. Zbigniew Ciszek and Mr. Andrzej Strządała, who launched a charity initiative entitled "Cycling for water." On February 15-18, 2021, they will traverse 250 km from Nairobi to Meru on their bicycles, raising funds for the construction of a water borehole at the Furaha Centre in Meru.

Thirty years ago, on 15 February 1991, the presidents of Poland and Czechoslovakia, and the prime minister of Hungary signed the Declaration on Cooperation between the Czech and Slovak Federal Republic, the Republic of Poland and the Republic of Hungary in Striving for European Integration in the castle of Visegrád, Hungary.

The "Water for Furaha" project was initiated by Mr. Zbigniew Ciszek from Pruszków, Poland. In October 2020 he decided to launch a fundraising campaign in order to collect money needed for expansion of the Furaha Centre for children with special needs in Meru County in Kenya. The official closure of the initiative will take place in mid-February 2021 in Kenya during a 250 km long bicycle ride from Nairobi to Meru.
