Poland in Kenya

As a result of the cooperation between the Embassy and the editors of the Kenyan monthly magazine "The Consulate", devoted to foreign affairs, its June issue contains an extensive material on Polish-Kenyan bilateral relations, both in historical and current perspective, including cooperation in the fields of political relations, economic and development affairs, and culture, art, cuisine and traditions of our country.

On June 5, 2021, at the initiative of the Embassy, Poles based in Nairobi participated in a trip around the capital in the footsteps of their fellow citizens. It allowed to learn a bit more about Polish heritage in Kenya and places in Nairobi that are historically linked to Poland.

We kindly inform you that on Friday, May 14, 2021 and Tuesday, June 1, 2021, the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Nairobi and its Consular Section will be closed due to Eid al-Fitr and Madaraka Day respectively, which are declared public holidays in the Republic of Kenya. On Thursday, June 3, 2021, the Embassy will be closed because of the Feast of Corpus Christi observed by Poland.

Please be informed that during this year's European Film Festival in Kenya, co-organized online on May 9-30, 2021 by the Delegation of the European Union and the Embassies of its Member States based in Nairobi, Poland is presenting a movie "Icarus. The Legend of Mietek Kosz" directed by Maciej Pieprzyca. We encourage you to watch this and other titles from Kenya and the countries of the European Union taking part in this year's edition of the Festival.

Please find below the full text of the article written by President of Poland Mr. Andrzej Duda and published in the May issue of "The Consulate Magazine" in Kenya on the occasion of the Constitution Day of the Republic of Poland, celebrated annually on May 3.

When on 3 May 1791 the Four-Year Sejm also called the Great Sejm adopted The Government Act of the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth later known as the Constitution of 3 May, the Polish-Lithuanian state became the Europe’s first and the world’s second that passed the basic law. For its time, it was a progressive and bold legal act which initiated a number of reforms. It also constituted a crowning achievement of the centuries-old links between Poland and Lithuania.

The Day of Polish Community and Poles Abroad was established in recognition of the historical contribution of diaspora communities to the national objectives of the country of their forefathers. Celebrated jointly with Polish Flag Day, it is intended to encourage Poles to reflect on the glorious pages of the country’s past.

We kindly inform you that on Monday, May 3, 2021, the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Nairobi and its Consular Section will be closed due to the Polish Constitution Day, which is a public holiday in Poland.
