Study visit of representatives of the National Museums of Kenya to Poland

From March 23rd to April 1st 2026, three representatives of the National Museums of Kenya (NMK) undertook a study visit to Poland, organized by the Embassy of Poland in Nairobi and the Department of Cultural Diplomacy and Promotion of Poland at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The NMK delegation, composed of Joyce Kinyanjui, Head of Public Programs at the National Museum in Nairobi, Mwanaima Salim, Chief Curator at the National Museum in Nairobi, and Fatma Twahir, Chief Curator at the Fort Jesus Museum in Mombasa, visited a number of cultural institutions, including the Karolin Polish Folklore Centre, the Pomeranian Dukes' Castle in Szczecin, the Ethnographic Museum in Krakow, the Tatra Museum in Zakopane, the “9 Sił” Foundation in Żywiec, and the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. The visit was overseen by Prof. Aleksandra Łukaszewicz. During their visit to Szczecin, the delegation also met with the city's mayor, Piotr Krzystek.
The study visit was a key stage in preparations for the exhibition "Roots of the Present: Folklore, Traditions, and Transcultural Inspirations in Poland and Kenya" in Mombasa, planned by the Embassy of Poland in Nairobi in cooperation with the NMK for the turn of 2026/2027.
