The naming ceremony of the Beata Kasprzyk Health Center in Ankitsiky
03.12.2025
On December 1, 2025, a ceremony was held in the village of Ankitsiky, Madagascar, to name the local Basic Health Center (Centre de Santé de Base, CSB) in honor of Beata Kasprzyk. The center was built in 2023-2024 with funding from Polish Aid.
The project was initiated and coordinated by Ms. Kasprzyk together with her husband, Zbigniew Kasprzyk, the long-serving Honorary Consul General of Poland in Madagascar, and was carried out in cooperation with the Embassy of Polan in Nairobi. Ms. Kasprzyk tragically passed away in December 2024 while returning from the center’s official opening.
The ceremony was attended by almost the entire Ankitsiky community, as well as the mayor of the Maromandia commune, representatives of the local health and education authorities, Ms. Marta Morin-Kasprzyk, daughter of the Kasprzyks, the Secretary for Development Cooperation from the Embassy of Poland, and members of the local Polish community and of Women Association VOLAMAZAVA.
During the event, the village’s primary school—also built under a development project of the Polish Embassy with the support of the Kasprzyk family—was named after Le Maro, a village resident who donated his land for the school’s construction.
Commemorative plaques were unveiled, presenting the history of both the school and the health center, and honoring the legacy of Beata Kasprzyk, who, in addition to her philanthropic work, authored numerous journalistic pieces on Madagascar and Polish-Malagasy cultural relations.
