22.12.2025

As part of a development project of the Embassy of Poland in Nairobi, in collaboration with the HAART Foundation, the publication "Voices for Freedom. An Anthology: Where Survivor Stories Lead the Way" was published, consisting of 25 essays/stories on the issue of human trafficking. The anthology is a unique attempt to give voice to survivors of human trafficking.

The aim of the publication is to raise public awareness of the issue of modern slavery and the complex situation of its victims, who are often stigmatized and stereotyped, as well as to provide tools for more effective combating of human trafficking.

The "Voices for Freedom" anthology is available on the HAART Foundation website, also available for download in PDF format: https://haartkenya.org/voice-story/

This year's collaboration between the Embassy and the HAART Foundation, as part of a project financed by "Polish Aid," also resulted in the modernization of the shelter for survivors of human trafficking in Nairobi, run by HAART. Among other things, the shelter has been equipped with a sewing and craft workshop, along with a professional photography studio for marketing the handicrafts created there. Thanks to the workshop, the shelter's residents will be able to learn new, useful professional skills and develop their small businesses. Regaining financial independence is a key element in the rehabilitation and resocialization of survivors of human trafficking. Since its establishment in 2016, the HAART shelter has supported over 1,000 survivors of human trafficking.
