The Polish Embassy in Beirut, in cooperation with the Khalil Gibran National Committee, organised a piano competition for Lebanese youth, held at the monastery in Bsharre in north Lebanon.

Chopin Piano Competition for Lebanese Youth in Bsharre

This was the first local competition for young Lebanese musicians dedicated to the music of Fryderyk Chopin. Students from music schools across northern Lebanon participated, with children aged 8 to 18 performing works by the Polish composer in two age categories. The young pianists presented a selection of Chopin’s pieces including nocturnes, polonaises and waltzes.

Lebanese music professors formed the jury and evaluated performers on technique, rhythm, sound quality, style and musical interpretation, with the New Monastery in Bsharre, north Lebanon providing the backdrop.

The event offered a wonderful opportunity to promote the music of Chopin in Lebanon and to inspire Lebanese youth with his artistic legacy. Participants demonstrated exceptional talent, technical preparation and remarkable musical sensitivity, and the atmospheric venue enhanced the ambience, ensuring the concert left a lasting and beautiful memory for the young artists, their families and the audience.
