Meetings of EU Heads of Mission with high representatives of the Lebanese authorities

In July 2025, a number of high level meetings was held between Ambassadors of European Union countries and representatives of the highest authorities of Lebanon - the President of the Republic, the Prime Minister and the Speaker of the Parliament.
On July 10th, a meeting between the EU Heads of Mission and President Joseph Aoun took place. In meeting representatives of all EU countries residing in Beirut took part, as well as Ambassadors accredited to Lebanon residing in Cairo and Ankara. The meeting was held at the Presidential Palace in Baabda. The EU Ambassador reaffirmed the European Union's strong and permanent presence in Lebanon, emphasizing that the European Union and its Member States stand in solidarity with the people of Lebanon, who have faced an exceptionally difficult situation over the past two years. President Aoun reaffirmed his appreciation for the European Union's role and Lebanon's continued support, for which he expressed his gratitude.
On July 11th 2025, the EU Delegation in Beirut organized a meeting of EU Heads of Mission with Prime Minister Nawaf Salam. The meeting took place at the Prime Minister's office in the Grand Serail. EU member states presented information on European assistance to Lebanon. The Prime Minister expressed gratitude for the EU's humanitarian and economic assistance and expressed appreciation for its continued support. Progress in the country's ongoing financial reforms and the extension of the UNIFIL Mission's mandate in southern Lebanon were also discussed.
On July 17th, EU Ambassadors met with Parliament President Nabih Berri at his residence in Ain El Tineh. Berri emphasized the importance of relations with the EU, noting that Lebanon feels part of the community, primarily for cultural, historical, and value-based reasons. He noted the importance of elevating bilateral relations to a higher level. Berri also thanked UNIFIL TCC for their contribution and support, and extended his gratitude to the entire EU for its assistance in extending the mission's mandate.
