At a meeting in Beirut between UN-Habitat Lebanon and the Embassy of the Republic of Poland, an official note was presented informing of Poland’s voluntary financial contribution, and discussions were held on the allocation and use of funds.

This support continues Poland’s long-standing engagement in UN-Habitat Lebanon initiatives and active involvement in supporting security and development initiatives in Lebanon.

In 2022, a development project was completed in cooperation with the Polish Centre for International Aid (PCPM). The project focused on the expansion and modernization of the sewage system in the town of Qatlbeh, located in the Kobayat region and resulted in improved sanitary conditions, greater protection of the natural environment, and increased access to safe and efficient water and sewage infrastructure for residents.

In 2024, Polish firefighters supported the implementation of the project “Development of Lebanese Rescue Services in Urban Areas.” The project focused on strengthening the resilience of rescue institutions in Lebanon and their capacity to respond to natural disasters and crises caused by human activity and led to the enhancement of the competencies of the Lebanese Civil Defence. This project was developed as a continuation of the cooperation established after the Beirut explosion in 2020, in which the Polish Heavy Urban Search and Rescue Team and experts from the iHELP Institute participated.
