30.05.2026

Between May 27th and 29th 2026, a large scale operation to deliver humanitarian assistance to Lebanon took place. The initiative was launched by the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Beirut and carried out jointly by the Government of Poland, the Governmental Agency for Strategic Reserves (RARS), Polish humanitarian organizations, and the Polish Armed Forces.

As part of the operation, humanitarian aid worth more than 10 million PLN was delivered to Lebanon. The main portion of the shipment consisted of medical equipment, hospital supplies, and materials intended for the Lebanese healthcare system, which remains under significant strain due to the deteriorating humanitarian situation and the growing number of people requiring medical assistance. Additional in‑kind aid was provided for internally displaced persons. The transport was carried out using Antonov cargo aircraft, which completed a series of flights between Poland and Beirut.

During the official reception of the first shipment at Rafik Hariri International Airport, Lebanon’s Minister of Health, Dr. Rakan Nassereldine, was present. He emphasized the importance of Polish support for the functioning of the national healthcare system. He noted that the delivered assistance ranks among the largest medical consignments received by Lebanon during the current humanitarian crisis and represents substantial support for medical facilities and healthcare personnel.

The handover of the aid was attended by the Ambassador of Poland to Lebanon, Dr. Aleksandra Bukowska‑McCabe, together with representatives of the Embassy of Poland in Beirut. The Polish side underscored its solidarity with the people of Lebanon and its readiness to continue supporting humanitarian efforts addressing the most urgent needs of the country’s residents.

An integral part of the operation were the activities of Polish non‑governmental organizations. The Polish Centre for International Aid (PCPM) delivered assistance for internally displaced persons, including mattresses, blankets, pillows, and equipment for collective shelters. In parallel, the Wolne Miejsce Foundation has been preparing and distributing hot meals for people in need in Beirut.

Information about the aid deliveries was widely covered by major Lebanese media outlets, including MTV Lebanon, which reported on the arrival of the transports, the handover ceremony, and statements by Lebanese officials. Arab media highlighted the scale of the shipment and the fact that three consecutive humanitarian flights from Poland had been carried out. They noted that this was one of the largest medical deliveries received by Lebanon in recent times. News about the aid for Lebanon also appeared in national and regional Polish media, which drew attention to the scale of the Polish state’s involvement, the participation of the Polish Armed Forces, the work of RARS, and the contribution of Polish humanitarian organizations.
