Testimony of the fate of Polish exiles: Siberia - Lebanon

25.09.2025

1

A touching meeting with Mrs. Maria Gordziejko– a Polish woman who, as a young girl on the verge of adolescence, was deported to Siberia and then endured a dramatic journey through Tehran all the way to Lebanon. It was here, along with thousands of other exiles from Poland, that she found shelter, care, and a semblance of home.

Today – once again – she returned to the place that saved her childhood. In the presence of representatives of the Polish consuls, , the Fenicja Foundation of St. Charbel, and fellow Poles, she shared her touching testimony.
“Lebanon was my second home,” Maria said emotionally.

We are grateful to have accompanied her in this extraordinary moment and to honor her perseverance and courage. This meeting reminded us of the importance of memory, gratitude, and the strength of the human spirit.
