About the project
"Legends of the Podkarpackie Region" is a project focused around young people interested in deepening their knowledge of legends of the Podkarpackie region and acquiring computer graphics skills. It consists in promoting education in the narrow field of computer graphics, shaping the skills of storytelling and conveying messages through the use of contemporary means of artistic expression, which includes comics, and shaping artistic skills among young people by using new technologies. It aims to develop hard skills, such as the use of graphic design programs and tools, and knowledge of printing. The project will be based on two pillars: workshops and a competition.
Graphic workshops
Experts in broadly understood computer graphics will conduct the series of workshops for high school students. It will be an opportunity to deepen knowledge and gain experience or learn the ins and outs of graphic design software, techniques and methods for creating comics (illustrations) from scratch. These classes will be held using the Zoom online platform and personalised according to the participants' age and skills. Before the workshop, participants will receive a resource info pack containing information about the necessary application and the website and a description of the situation to be translated into graphic form during the workshop. During the workshop, each participant will have the opportunity to work independently and in groups using a professional graphics programme. This stage is intended to prepare the audience to take part in an art competition.
Comics competition
Another aspect of the project is a competition, closely linked to the subject of legends of Podkarpackie. The participants' task is to create a comic book depicting a legend or tale related to the Podkarpackie region. Ultimately, a committee consisting of organizers and experts will select the winners. The best works will be presented as prizes on the gov.pl website dedicated to the project and on the fanpage of the GovTech Centre fan page.
