Minister M. Blaszczak greets Minister Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer in Berlin

On Friday, August 16, a meeting was held in Berlin between Minister Mariusz Blaszczak and Minister Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer. The head of the Polish Ministry of National Defence was the first foreign guest of the new Federal Minister of Defence.

During the conversation, the head of the Ministry of National Defence presented specific proposals for cooperation between Polish and German Armed Forces

- I presented specific proposals for joint exercises. We also foresee talks about strengthening the eastern flank of NATO - said Minister Błaszczak after the meeting.

- I spoke openly about the threats related to Nord Stream 2. I emphasized that these were real threats related to the policy of Vladimir Putin, who uses the supply of energy resources as a weapon - said Minister Blaszczak.

The talks in Berlin also concerned the NATO division headquarters created in Poland in Elbląg.

One of the topics were also issues related to the project to build a new tank.

- We talked about the Franco-German tank project, which is at an initial stage. From our point of view, it would be good if this initiative were accelerated and notified under PESCO projects. That it would be strengthened with EU funding. It would also be a good solution for the Polish defence industry - said Minister Błaszczak.
