Easter meeting of the Deputy Prime Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz with the soldiers of the Polish Military Contingent in Iraq
31.03.2026
- The Polish Military Contingent in Iraq continues its mission according to the decree of the President, not only in the Iraq theatre, but also here, in Jordan, everywhere where our presence is necessary according to the interest of the Republic of Poland, the security of our citizens, and seeking a path towards peace. I would like to thank all of you ahead of Easter, especially your commander, for your service in the Polish Armed Forces, for your sacrifice, dedication and the difficulties of the service, which you have experienced in the last few days - said the Deputy Prime Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz during the meeting with the soldiers of the Polish Military Contingent in Iraq.
The Deputy Prime Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz has visited the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan on 31 March 2026. The main element of the visit was the Easter meeting with the soldiers of the 19th tour of the Polish Military Contingent in Iraq. The Minister of National Defence was accompanied by the commanders of the Polish Armed Forces, and the meeting was an opportunity to give each other best wishes and share a symbolic egg with the soldiers serving in the Middle East.
- For these holidays here, in Jordan – different than usual, less familial, but experienced in the great military family, please accept best wishes from the authorities of the Republic of Poland, and especially from all our citizens. The Polish Armed Forces enjoy large public trust, reaching 94%. This is thanks to your conduct. Soldiers are Poland’s strength, those who serve on its territory, but especially those participating in missions abroad, carrying the white and red flag into the world. This deserves the highest respect. Please accept best wishes for these holidays. Come back safely to your families, stay in good health. Use your experience, be vigilant, courageous and prudent.
- The Deputy Prime Minister W. Kosiniak-Kamysz said to the soldiers.
The Deputy Prime Minister W. Kosiniak-Kamysz has also learned of the current operational challenges before the soldiers of the 19th tour of the Polish Military Contingent in Iraq, who fulfil training and advisory tasks as part of the mission.
- We know the situation regarding this operation, but together with general Klisz and the other commanders we have been moving to change the place from which it is conducted. The main theatre is inaccessible in the allied formula established so far, either by NATO or by our allies from the United States, so it was necessary to continue the mission under different circumstances. This mission has a few objectives. The first is to fulfil tasks stemming from international agreements and maintaining readiness to assist our allies. The second is the protection of the base, which is still operational and our soldiers are still there. The third is the actions undertaken here, cooperation with our contingent and operational assistance. This mission is deeply meaningful. It is not merely a continuation of what began in Iraq. It is supplemented by new elements, connected to the closest operational surroundings and the support of the Polish authorities in the Middle East.
- stressed the Deputy Prime Minister W. Kosiniak-Kamysz.
During his visit, the Deputy Prime Minister W. Kosiniak-Kamysz has met with the King of Jordan, Abdullah II. The talks included matters of security in the region of the Middle East and ongoing military cooperation.
- I am glad that we had an opportunity to talk with the King of Jordan and other representatives of the country’s authorities, here, together with the entire delegation. This is evidence of their hospitality to all of you. I ask for reciprocity towards our Jordanian hosts, they deserve it, as they too are our friends. We are allies, not in the European Union, but as countries that can depend on each other.
- said the Minister of National Defence after the meeting.
