09.11.2022

“The first K239 CHUNMOO launchers, mounted on the Jelcz trucks, will strengthen the Polish Armed Forces next year. Undoubtedly, it is our common remarkable achievement. At first only components, but later, I am confident that, full artillery sets will be produced in our country. With all certainty, such weaponry will significantly amplify the combat potential of the Polish Armed Forces. It will grow the deterrence potential and scare away the aggressor” said Mariusz Błaszczak, Deputy Prime Minister-Minister of National Defense after signing the contract for the supply of the weapon system's elements.

On November 9, in Warsaw, the head of the Ministry of National Defense approved the framework agreement between the PGZ-WWR Consortium and Armaments Agency for the supply of the multi-lead rocket launchers' elements, which will be acquired for the Polish Armed Forces from the United States and the Republic of Korea.

"HIMARS are launchers ordered in the United States, whereas Chunmoos are their Korean counterparts. Our goal is to quickly and effectively strengthen the combat capabilities of the Polish Armed Forces. We do it consistently, with the simultaneous intention to use the Polish defense industry as much as possible. Today is another example of our efforts to modernize the Polish Armed Forces. As part of the signed contract, certain parts will be manufactured by the Polish Armaments Group. For instance means of communication, unmanned aerial systems, and the Jelcz chassis - on which the launchers, as well as reconnaissance, ammunition and technical evacuation vehicles will be mounted. All these elements construct a comprehend artillery launcher systems' structure, which works outstandingly well in the war in Ukraine"

- Deputy Prime Minister said.

The project of the domestic elements of long-range missile artillery fire modules' implementation is the second largest program to be addressed to the Polish defense industry.

The agreement between the Armaments Agency representing the State Treasury of the Republic of Poland and the PGZ-WWR consortium will define the terms and conditions for concluding the upcoming executive agreements regarding M142 HIMARS and K239 CHUNMOO multi-lead rocket launchers.

“I am pleased to once more express my gratitude to all those who have worked to prepare this contract. It regards our South Korean partners, but also the Armaments Agency and the Polish Armaments Group. This contract is of paramount importance and the second biggest contract assigned to the Polish Armaments Group, right after Narew. And let me remind you that the first battery of the "Little Narew" is already in the Polish Armed Forces’ equipment"

- said Deputy Prime Minister M. Błaszczak.
