Munition Storage Area for the allied forces is being built in Powidz

02.06.2022

This investment is co-financed by Poland, by the North Atlantic Alliance and by the United States. The assumption of this investment, as well as the previous one, which is just about to end, is to create conditions that will allow allied forces, especially the US forces, to be equipped with combat equipment in a very short time. So that in a crisis situation they can in real terms support the Polish Army - said Mariusz Błaszczak, the Minister of National Defence during his visit to Powidz.

On Thursday, June the 2nd  in Powidz, Minister Mariusz Błaszczak took part in the inauguration of the construction of munition storage area.

The head of the Ministry of National Defence recalled that the base in Powidz – munition storage area- the construction of which was inaugurated today and the Long Term Equipment Storage and Maintenance Complex (LTESM-C), which is being built nearby, will be a key security infrastructure in this part of Europe. He stressed that these were tangible and clear examples of Polish-American partnership.

"This new investment is in a very close location, right in the vicinity of the investment that will end this year, and this earlier investment consists in building a warehouse complex for equipment, for combat machines and the maintenance of these machines. This will make it possible to equip the brigade battle group in a short time"

  - added the head of the Ministry of National Defence.

Munition Storage Area (MSA) is another investment in Powidz, next to the Long Term Equipment Storage and Maintenance Complex (LTESM-C). The MSA complex will consist of 56 warehouses and administrative facilities. Completion of construction is scheduled for April 2024.

"Today we are proud that 12,000 American soldiers are stationed in Poland. Polish soldiers train shoulder to shoulder with American soldiers, train interoperability, procedures, and we do all this for the security of Poland and the security of NATO's Eastern Flank. We mean deterrence. We want what is happening behind the Polish eastern border -  the Russian invasion of Ukraine - to draw the right conclusions from this situation, to stop the criminal invasion of Ukraine, in such a way that we are deterring the Kremlin rulers from going any further. We show unity, we show the solidarity of the countries of the North Atlantic Alliance"

- he stressed.

"I assure you that we will develop the Polish Armed Forces, that we will develop cooperation with the United States and other allies within the North Atlantic Alliance, that we will do everything to keep Poland and the countries of the North Atlantic Alliance's eastern flank  safe and for that I would like to thank you very much Ambassador Brzeziński and Mr. Mela for these joint activities"

- said the minister.
