We have many important dates for the history of Poland in our calendar. One of them is March 12. On this day in 1999 the Republic of Poland was officially accepted into the countries forming the North Atlantic Treaty Organization - NATO.

Bilateral and multilateral cooperation and the security situation in the Baltic and Nordic regions were the main topics of consultations of Polish and Norwegian Deputy Ministers of Defence and Foreign Affairs (7th March). The Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of National Defence, Mr. Tomasz Szatkowski, participated in the meeting.

On 6 March 2018 Undersecretary of State in MoD Tomasz Szatkowski took part in the EU Ministers of Defence meeting in the framework of Foreign Affairs Council.

Prospects for strengthening the Visegrad cooperation in the field of defence as well as cooperation and the challenges facing NATO and the EU were the topics of the meeting of the Deputy Ministers of Defense of the Visegrad Group (the so-called V4 Senior Body) in Budapest on 27 and 28 February. The Under-Secretary of State in MoD Tomasz Szatkowski participated in the talks.

Between 26th and 27th of February 2018, Undersecretary of State of the Ministry of National Defence of the Republic of Poland Mr. Tomasz Szatkowski visited Great Britain where he met with Minister of State for the Armed Forces, the Rt Hon Mark Lancaster.

Bilateral cooperation and the security situation on the eastern and southern flanks were the main topics discussed by Mariusz Błaszczak, the Minister of National Defense with the Minister of Defense of Greece Panagiotis Kammenos.

Undersecretary of State in the Defense Ministry Tomasz Szatkowski attended the annual Munich Security Conference (MSC) held from 16 to 17 February this year.

- The most important thing is that NATO is changing and strengthening. It becomes a force that is able to resist the threat - said Mariusz Błaszczak, the Minister of National Defense after the first day of the meeting of ministers of defense of NATO countries in the NATO Headquarters in Brussels.

- It is important for the Polish army to participate in the EU mission Sophia in the Mediterranean, it shows solidarity and helps to avert the conflict - said the head of the Defense Minister Mariusz Błaszczak during the farewell of the Polish Military Contingent EU SOPHIA.

Security in Poland and Europe and Polish-American cooperation was the main topic of the Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of National Defense Tomasz Szatkowski and the US Secretary of the Army Dr. Mark T. Esper meeting in Warsaw on 31st January 2018.
