Operation RENGAW. On the Polish-Belarusian border the military task force begins its work

12.08.2023

I have decided to establish a military task force in an operation codenamed RENGAW. The mission of the soldiers will be to train the Polish Armed Forces here in the field, in Podlaskie Voivodeship, and to stand as a backup, should the situation on the Polish-Belarusian border deteriorate. (...) We are taking effective and adequate measures to deter an aggressor. The Polish Armed Forces are being equipped with modern weapons, modern machinery, and all this testifies to their strength - the strength to deter an aggressor, Minister Mariusz Blaszczak informed.

On August 12, the head of the Ministry of Defense paid a visit to eastern Poland, where Polish Armed Forces' soldiers are currently on duty, supporting the Border Guard in their operations.

There is no doubt whatsoever that the Belarusian regime is cooperating with the Kremlin and the attacks on the Polish border are intended to destabilize our country. But I am convinced that this action will not succeed, due to the service of the Polish Military and the strengthening of the border. (...) The nature of this military task force is training and defense. We have Operation GRYF under the command of the Border Guard, which involves sealing and strengthening the border.Up to 4,000 soldiers of the Polish Army will take part in this operation, but I made the decision to establish a military task force in the operation under the code name RENGAW

- informed the head of the Ministry of Defense during a visit to Jarylówka.

Minister Mariusz Blaszczak appointed Col. Arkadiusz Mikolajczyk as commander of the task force in Operation Rengaw, and Col. Grzegorz Kaliciak as deputy commander.

As the head of the Ministry of Defense pointed out, the soldiers from Podlasie region will also be joined by those stationed in other parts of Poland on a daily basis. They will be both operational army soldiers and territorial defense forces.

More than a dozen bases in Podlaskie Voivodeship near the border already have, or will soon have, among others, Polish Army troops from the 6th Brigade, 12th Brigade, 25th Brigade, 17th Brigade, with APC Rosomak, RAK, Bayraktars and helicopters. This equipment is gathered here in the Podlaskie province in order to deter an aggressor

- said the minister.

The head of the Ministry of Defense also drew attention to the actions taken by the Kremlin's propaganda. As he pointed out the strengthening of the Polish border by the Polish Military will be used by the Kremlin's propaganda apparatus.

The nature of this military task force is training and defense. Let's keep this in mind when we hear the Kremlin propaganda that says that the Polish Forces are being gathered at the border. That is indeed the case, but the Polish Military is gathered to deter an aggressor. This is the case and will continue to be the case despite these various disinformation campaigns

- the minister noted.

On the occasion of the upcoming Polish Armed Forces Day, the minister wished all soldiers all the best and thanked them for their daily service.

The Day of the Polish Armed Forces is approaching. We will thank the soldiers for their daily service. But those soldiers who are here will be guarding the Polish border during this time. Therefore, I thank them all the more for this effort. This is an extremely important service for the security of our homeland

- the minister added.
