Polish – American talks

Security in Poland and Europe and Polish-American cooperation was the main topic of the Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of National Defense Tomasz Szatkowski and the US Secretary of the Army Dr. Mark T. Esper meeting in Warsaw on 31st January 2018.

Deputy Minister T. Szatkowski recalled the historical importance of the relations between Poland and the United States. Noted that the current cooperation  had led to a meaningful improvement in the security situation in the region of Central and Eastern Europe, furthermore it offers the prospect of further opportunities for developing mutual relations.

At the same time, Minister stressed the need for the continuation of the US commitment to increase the security of Europe.

Secretary Esper confirmed that Poland is a strong ally of the United States and plays an important role in US security policy.

During the talks also discussed, inter alia, the US involvement in Europe as part of the enhanced Forward Presence - eFP , European Deterrence Initiative (EDI), various aspects of the US military presence in Poland and common Polish - American defense projects.

n addition, Ministers also discussed issues related to the improvement of interoperability operational capabilities development of both countries in the context of ongoing modernization of the Polish Armed Forces.They highlighted the importance of 'Wisła' and 'Homar' programs for building mutual strategic relations and the need to adapt the military infrastructure of the Polish Armed Forces in order to ensure the possibility to conduct battle trainings.
