Polish-Czech cooperation strengthens regional security

Mariusz Blaszczak, Minister of National Defense, took part in Polish-Czech intergovernmental consultations chaired by the prime ministers of Poland and the Czech Republic on Thursday, July 20 in Katowice.

The meeting in Katowice was the eighth edition of international consultations as a permanent mechanism for political and institutional cooperation between the two countries. The last Polish-Czech intergovernmental consultations were held in Prague on June 3, 2022.

During the joint ministerial conversation, the defense and foreign ministers of Poland and the Czech Republic discussed, among other things, the security situation in the region with particular emphasis on the current situation in Ukraine and cooperation within the international organizations of the North Atlantic Alliance, the European Union and the Visegrad Group. They also discussed strengthening military cooperation and the arms industry in Eastern Europe.

The head of the Ministry of Defense attended the plenary session, which was chaired by Mateusz Morawiecki, Prime Minister of Poland, and Peter Fiali, Prime Minister of the Czech Republic. The government delegations discussed current political, economic, military and international issues.
