Together we are stronger and safer

– Many years we have been connected by very friendly Polish-Slovak relations. Together we are developing a defense system that guarantees security not only for Poland and Slovakia, but also for the entire eastern flank of NATO. Together we are part of the Visegrad Group (V4) and we are also members of NATO and the EU. These are very strong bonds, and our task as defense ministers is to strengthen these relations, because together we are stronger, together we are safer – emphasized Mariusz Błaszczak, the Minister of National Defence during the meeting with Jaroslav Naď the Minister of Defense of Slovakia.

Together we are stronger and safer

On Wednesday, July 8 in Warsaw, Mariusz Błaszczak, the Minister of National Defense hosted Jaroslav Naď, the Minister of Defence of Slovakia. During the meeting ministers discussed, among others, aviation cooperation between Poland and Slovakia and defense issues of the members of the Visegrad Group (V4).

From the beginning of July this year Poland chairs the Visegrad Group (V4). The priority for mutual cooperation in the frames of V4 is, among others, the exchange of experience in fighting against the coronavirus pandemic. The important areas during the commenced term remain crisis response and the role of WOT (Territorial Defence Forces) in the national defense system. There will be continuation of works on establishing the European Union Battle Group with duty scheduled for the first half of 2023.

During the meeting, ministers signed the Polish-Slovak agreement that concerns military aviation cooperation in terms of training and exercises as well as conducting tasks as NATO member states.

– Our efforts are coordinated. Together we established and developed the Center of Excellence in Krakow. This is a Polish-Slovak initiative. We have just signed an agreement on aviation cooperation between the Poland and Slovakia – underlined Mariusz Błaszczak after signing the agreement.

Jaroslav Naď, the Minister of Defense of Slovakia expressed gratitude to the Minister of National Defense for the invitation, especially that it was the first visit of the foreign Minister of Defense in the times of the coronavirus pandemic.

– Our partnership is deepen by new initiatives. As examples I can mention cooperation in the Center of Excellence in Krakow, relations between special forces and the agreement signed today – expressed the Minister of Defense of Slovakia.
