    On September 9th a commemorative ceremony marking the 40th anniversary of the birth of the Solidarity Movement in Poland was held at the NATO Headquarters. The event was combined with the inauguration of the iconic Solidarity sign installed on the NATO premises.

    General Rajmund T. Andrzejczak, who leads the Polish Armed Forces, is running for the position of the Chairman of the NATO Military Committee. The Polish Government officially recommended him to chair this highest military body of the Alliance. The result of the competition will be known in September following the voting by chiefs of defence of all NATO countries. The new Chairman will assume his duties in the summer of 2021.

    On Tuesday the aid for six Western Balkan countries; Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Serbia left Warsaw. The shipment includes more than 60,000 litres of disinfectants and 600,000 surgical masks, which amounts to nearly 70 tonnes of cargo. Assistance to Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and North Macedonia is provided in response to the requests made to NATO Euro-Atlantic Disaster Response Coordination Center.
