Poland in NATO

On 6-7 April, Minister Zbigniew Rau took part in a meeting of NATO foreign ministers, which was held in Brussels. The event was mainly devoted to Russia's aggression against Ukraine and the works on the new Strategic Concept, which is to be adopted during this year's NATO Summit in Madrid. A part of the meeting was also attended by ministers of foreign affairs of Australia, Finland, Georgia, Japan, Korea, New Zealand, Sweden, and Ukraine, and the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.

At the 32nd Tactical Air Base in Łask, President of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Duda met with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg. - The Alliance must maintain unity, we must stand together with Ukraine - emphasized Andrzej Duda.

"A strong declaration of unity and solidarity towards Ukraine. Readiness to increase involvement on NATO's Eastern flank, of course, as the situation develops. This is a message that was shared by all participants of today's meeting, ”said Mariusz Błaszczak, Minister of National Defense after the meeting with NATO Defense Ministers at the Alliance Headquarters in Brussels.

President Andrzej Duda spoke with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg at NATO Headquarters in Brussels.

On January 27, a ceremony was held at NATO Headquarters on the occasion of the International Holocaust Remembrance Day and the 77th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau camp, co-organized by the Permanent Representations of Poland, Italy and Bulgaria to NATO. The event's partner was the World Jewish Congress.

On 7 January 2022, Minister Zbigniew Rau took part in a video conference of NATO foreign ministers, which focused on the security situation in Ukraine caused by Russia's actions.

Poland, together with Great Britain and Portugal, organized a seminar on deterrence and defense - the first in a series of thematic consultations as part of work on the next Strategic Concept of the Alliance.

On 30 November and 1 December, Minister Zbigniew Rau took part in a meeting of NATO foreign ministers, which was held in Riga. The talks focused on current challenges to the security of the Alliance and the Euro-Atlantic area posed by the activity of Russian forces at the border with Ukraine, and the crisis at the Polish-Belarusian border.

NATO Allies supported the need for joint action to resolve the migration crisis on the eastern flank of the Alliance. The deputy chief of Polish diplomacy also met with NATO Deputy Secretary General, Mircea Geoană.

The Polish Team, who has been participating in the NATO Chess Championships since 2002, was joined on the podium by Team Greece (2nd place) and Team Germany (3rd place).
